Our goal is to promote groundbreaking independent and mainstream film and culture on an international level, with a focus on celebrating the work of inspiring female and queer artists. We also aim to serve as a global networking hub for artists and film industry members.

MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR:
Thank you for visiting SHATTERJAPAN (SJ)!
I set up SHATTERJAPAN out of pure desire to pursue my passion for writing, film and other forms of culture. I wanted to create a unique platform for my work, which also gives me the opportunity to work with people across the globe who are also passionate about advancing their careers while making a difference in the world.
Since the birth of SJ, I have made many personal sacrifices to develop the project, while the project itself has gone through changes and continues to evolve. Originally founded in Japan, SJ has transitioned to the UK, and with its organic nature will no doubt expand further as an international project.
I firmly believe that female and queer persons must now be considered a vital part of mainstream industries and receive the recognition they deserve yet have long been unjustly denied. In the same vein, I am targeting SJ towards mainstream recognition.
SJ is currently self-funded and self-styled. With what limited resources we have, we work as a team of talented artists and enthusiasts from around the globe, with the firm belief that by working together (even with no budget) and by contributing our individual talents, we can make enormous steps in our careers and lives, thereby impacting the industries in which we work and the societies in which we live. We hope to serve as an inspiring example to other artists and creative talents who wish to break into their respective industries, whatever their individual sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality or ethnic background. By working positively together, we WILL break down the walls of social conditioning and shatter existing illusions and stereotypes within those industries.
To this end, we are always looking to build up our network of editorial assistants, writers, photographers, videographers, artists, designers, filmmakers and musicians as well as to connect with other like-minded enterprises. Critically, we are now looking for marketing assistants and a business partner.
Our key philosophies are “no fear” and “art with passion and respect.”
