Backstage photos of our “We love Rent!” video shoot. The video, which was shot by photographer Nanao Toki and edited by filmmaker Akira Shimada, was created as part of our FREE PUSSY RIOT TOKYO event campaign to promote freedom of expression and LGBT rights recognition, and to advertise the legendary “Rent” musical which recently enjoyed a run in Japan. The New York based musical features LGBT characters and touches on themes related to HIV/AIDS. Japanese-American actress Marissa Guth interviewed “Rent” fans in the busy streets of Shinjuku and Shibuya for the video, and the music soundtrack was provided by PUSSY RIOT. The video was screened on 4 November, 2012 as part of our FREE PUSSY RIOT TOKYO support event held at Las Chicas, Shibuya Tokyo, which was attended by musical theatre director Kaori Kobayashi and “Rent” actor Roma Tanaka who recently portrayed drag queen “Angel” in the show.
