San Cisco @ The Lexington

Young West Australian band San Cisco are on a campaign for world domination. Already a big hit in their own country, with one of their videos on YouTube already surpassing two million views, they played three showcase gigs around London this week. We caught up with them at The Lexington where they were supported by MT and Cut Your Hair.

The set was made up of original songs culled from their assorted EPs and other releases. While their music doesn’t break any new ground, it is unapologetically indie pop with catchy rhythms driven by Scarlett’s impressive drum skills. While they are an unknown quantity here they still managed to get the discerning room moving. Although young and still clearly suffering from the effects of travelling half way around the world, their set was energetic and actually sounded better than their records, which is no mean feat, especially in such a small room.

They’re off to the US now for a few more dates, but check them out next time they are in town, no doubt improved by the experience of their foray into wide world.

Look out for our interview with the band, coming soon.
